Why are all the neighbors dressed alike?

The prospect of moving into in an Ikea for a week is just compelling: all the things we could get into, all the fun we could have! The employees, albeit it a little confused, looked like they were having a great time with the whole thing. What’s even more compelling is that Ikea swallowed hard and trusted this staffer of The Colbert Report full access to the property and creative control of this PR stunt. Brilliant!

Ooohhh, OOVOO day is coming.

Picture_2This looks cool. Apparently OOVOO can host up to six users in a simultaneous video chat. We were planning to join the Adrants crew during their much-anticipated OOVOO session on February 12, 13 and 15 at 2:30 and 2:45 PM EST each day. But we can’t. Because the mac version isn’t ready. Ugh. More here. Great name and gig though, huh?

I’m the new CEO of an eco-friendly surf community. Nvohk hits the waves.

Witness NVOHK (horrible name, cool concept) the first eco-friendly community managed by the people that own it.  I’m member 1127.  Apparently, when they hit 20,000 people all the joinees will be invited to contribute $50 a year (making, what,  $1 million in seed money). The community members can then buy merch and participate in design decisions, etc. Oh, and 10% of the money raised goes to charity. Seems like a long shot to me… still, it is an interesting marketing model, and a super way to ignite a movement. One just wonders how many new t-shirt companies we really need?

Texting ads to shopping carts…

Ok, so it’s not as fun as texting to the passenger next to you on Virgin America flights but it is a new, innovative and targeted way to spread your message(s).

Text messages are wirelessly streamed to a small screen in a hard plastic case on cart handle. Advertisers and retailers can log on to modstream.com and enter their messages, selecting stores where they want their message to appear. Ads run across a complete chain or targeted to specific regions, stores or times of day. Since the messages can be changed quickly, it’s easy to adapt ads for short-run sales or clearance items.

Yup, it’s Mortar approved.

Office renovation idea #5

Oh, those crazy Europeans! They have ample vacation time and socialized medicine and what do they use them for?

26b_3

They put a Jaccuzzi on top of Mount Blanc.

We’ll gladly put a Jaccuzzi on top of the Mortar, but only in the interest of getting attention for our clients, of course.
